Officers, staff, and inmates share their views on Coastal Jail Ministries of Georgia!
To Colonel Holmes, Jail Administrator:
I am writing this letter on behalf of the entire congregation of brothers here in Unit 3 Delta of the Chatham County Detention Center known as the Men's Chaplain's Dorm. We wish to thank the Jail administration for allowing us this wonderful opportunity known as the "Life Learning Program" run by the Chaplains and volunteers of the Coastal Jail Ministries of Georgia. We are praying that the jail administration will continue to allow this wonderful program to be offered. So many lives are touched and changed by the work of this program, its chaplains, and volunteers. So many men have been introduced to the Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. Not only have they been touched and awakened by the power of Jesus, but so have many of our families and friends who love us but didn't know Jesus as their savior. We all just wanted to say "Thank You" so much for having faith in this program and our Chaplains who continue in the footsteps of Gods true gift, Chaplain Johnny Hands.
We just wanted to thank all for allowing us the chance to receive our Lord Jesus Christ our savior.

Unit 3 Delta, Chatham County Detention Center, 2010
I was tired, for 25 years I smoked “crack”, sold my body, stole from and lied to any and everyone who tried to help me. One night I looked in the mirror and I said “God if you really can do anything then please fix me, because I don’t like what I see physically and I don’t like what I see on the inside either”.
Shortly after that I left home and walked down the street. A man stopped and picked me up and I sold him some crack cocaine. He was an undercover police officer. Needless to say I went to jail. That’s where I met Chaplain Myra Mitchell. She introduced me to Jesus Christ and accepted my application to join the Chaplain’s Life Learning Program, where I learned about God’s love for me and His plans for me.
Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
I truly believe that now as I look back I can see how God answered my prayer and I’m just grateful. Since that time I have also graduated from the Women’s Fresh Start Program at the Old Savannah City Mission and have enrolled in Savannah Tech to get my GED. I’ve been clean and sober since the day I went to jail and now have a relationship with my family. I have a wonderful new life. Boy you talk about a future and a new hope, I praise God for saving me and turning my life around.
Your Sister in Christ
I endorse the Coastal Jail Ministries of Georgia. The ministry is a valuable Christian ministry, doing crucial work among the inmates. Multiple Bible studies and worship services are being conducted every week, bringing wide exposure to the word of God. Only the gospel can change people, and Christ-wrought change is evident throughout the jail. The Coastal Jail Ministries of Georgia is worthy of the support of all those who wish to see the gospel ministered in the jails and prisons.
Sincerely in Christ,

Greetings my Brothers and Sisters in Christ, peace and love be in your lives. I walked down the wrong path to get into the wrong place I thought, but now I know it was the right place. God put me in the right place to save my life, so I could write this to who ever needs to know the truth and the Truth is Jesus Christ.
Through the Chaplain’s Program I gave my life to Christ our Lord. Jesus has shown me favor and prospered my life beyond all my expectations and He can do the same for you. Live for the Lord and He will answer your prayers. He will never leave or forsake you. He gave his life to give you life, so live and be free in Jesus.
Your Brother in Christ
